Hershey helped me enter the world of “pet parenthood” and taught me what unconditional love is all about. For 20.5 years, her companionship was an immeasurable blessing. In many ways she was more human than some humans I know. She was always showed me acceptance and love through good days and bad days. Looking deep into her big eyes, I knew she had the heart of an angel. While her sweet and loving personality never waned, her body during the final senior years started a fairly steady decline. In my final act as her daddy, I took the anguishing step to spare her any more bad days where life seemed more of a struggle and an existence with fewer pleasures. I will forever love and miss my Hershey girl. And, I will continue to pray to God that when my time on Earth is done she and I will be reunited in eternal happiness.
