John Quinn was also a brother to Christopher and Mary Lou, and a friend to countless others. John Quinn was born of Irish immigrant parents, Mary Rose (McGinnis) and Christopher Quinn. John Quinn grew up in Philadelphia, attended St Thomas More H.S. in West Philly then became a member of the Philadelphia Fire Department October 1962. John Quinn moved up to the rank of Lieutenant then was assigned to the Fire Marshal’s Office as an arson investigator on Spring Garden St. John Quinn’s career encompassed numerous experiences, as well as a development of professionalism and dedication; and a bond with his brother firefighters. John Quinn was a simple man. He worked hard all his life, and despite the many hardships he encountered with his family or alone, he never quit on anyone, especially his family. Everyone always knew where they stood with John. John Quinn was firm, and dedicated to his beliefs; and raised his children to be the same. For such a simple man who was as basic as they come, he touched many lives in so many positive ways. His personality and easy going attitude was what made him so popular with so many people. I invite all who knew John Quinn to take a moment to pray for him, leave any thoughts, and to allow God to grant him eternal peace and rest. He will be forever missed by all, and has left behind a great legacy of family, values, and work for all to reflect and admire.
