Jan Abbott Williams

Janice Abbott Williams, 65, passed away on Monday, 8/3/15 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her during her battle with cancer.
Jan grew up in Oconee County and spent most of her career giving back to the community through teaching 4 year olds, helping with any school activities her children were part of, and teaching her Sunday school class. She received the Key to the City of Clemson as a thank you for her outstanding service while teaching at Kid’s Stuff. Her gentle and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, John W. Abbott and Nina O. Abbott. Jan is survived by her husband, Raymond Williams; her son Matt (Shelly) Carver; her daughters Nina Prater and Babs (Rob) Robinson; her grandchildren Tyler, Caleb, Will, Griffin, Mac, Lauren, and Sarah; her great-grandchildren Natalie and Kinley; and her sister Babs (David) Hildreth.
Jan’s ashes will be buried at Oconee Memorial Park in the fall after a private service. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Animal Rescue Fund at Fox Nest Veterinary Hospital or Helping Hands of Clemson foster home/emergency shelter.

"Bugs On The Slide" With Jan and Babs
Jan and Babs were my babysitters when I was young. They created fun games to play with me like "Bugs On The Slide" and "Snipe Hunt". When adults would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would delightfully say, "A Teenager!" because I saw how cool Jan and Babs were! When I slept over at the Abbott's, they fixed me delicacies such as Chef Boy-R-Dee pizza in a box. They accompanied our family to our silver trailer Nirvana in the mountains of Oconee County where we fished, swam, and were taught how to clog by the lifeguards at the State Park. I think sharing these memories is a fitting tribute to Jan and how she related to children. Prayers and comforting thoughts to Raymond and family. Myra Ellenburg Davis
