We celebrate the life and mourn the loss of our beloved friend, father, husband, grandfather and teacher, H. Ross Burton, who passed through the veil of mortality on august 24th, 2017.Ross was born on January 14, 1939 to Heinrich and Muriel Burton in a small farming community in Germany. As a child he learned to work hard at everything, a trait which he continued to develop throughout his lifetime. He moved with his parents and brother to the States in the early 1950’s. He later married his wife, Lynne, with whom he raised eight children, living primarily in Colorado and Arizona. He parented with patience, discipline and humility, and taught his children to appreciate culture, nature, physical activity, hard work and above all, to honor and respect their mother and to love the Lord.Ross was a quiet man who was always soft spoken and kind, always willing to listen to a problem, no matter how small. He spent his life in pursuit of knowledge, both secular and spiritual and was known to everyone as a man of great wisdom, intellect and faith. He never became arrogant, though he was considered a genius by most. His greatest treasure was his integrity and his character was unimpeachable. His talents were numerous, too numerous to count. He is survived by his wife, Lynne, their children Todd, Heidi (Fillmore), Valerie (Gearey), Richard, Alexa (Emerly), Maureen (Noland), Grace (Mathison) and Deanne (Briscoe); 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Heinrich and Muriel Burton.Ross will be missed by all who knew him. A private family viewing at 9:00 a.m will precede the funeral service at 10:30 on Saturday September 2nd at the First United Methodist Church and Ross will be laid to rest at C’oeur D’Alene Memorial Gardens cemetery, followed by a reception at the home of Carl and Rosemary Perkins of Hayden Lake. The family extends gratitude to Logan Hall Mortuary for their thoughtful service in preparing our beloved Ross for his final earthly journey, and for arranging transportation and burial services
