Place of birth: El Salvador
Gerardo Hernandez was really devoted to his family. He always showed his love for our family. An outgoing and friendly man,he was always there to help anyone in need. He was always joking and always made people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor
He migrated to the Los Angeles area from El Salvador at age 16 with an intense desire to study and succeed. He graduated from Los Angeles High School.
He had worked for the TSA for the past eight years and loved it. He wanted to do something for this country.
Sadly, Geraldo was the first TSA officer to be shot in the line of duty. He leaves behind his wife, Ana, of 15 years and two children.
