Fay Linda Moore

Place of birth: Houston, TX

Fay Linda Moore was born on April 7, 1942 in Houston, Texas to the late Mr. Charlie Louis Moore and Mrs. Esther Mable Moore.

She grew up in Acres Homes and graduated Booker T. Washington High School in 1960. She went on to attend Prairie View A&M University from 1960-61 and Texas Southern University in 1961. She began her technical career in 1965 in the Federal Systems Division of IBM, working on the Shuttle Project for NASA. She remained at IBM for 30 years, then transitioned to other subcontractors but always worked on the Shuttle Project. Fay worked the Shuttle Project from STS 1 (the very first flight) and finished as a Principal Systems Engineer with STS 135 (the very last flight). Her life’s journey took her to live in Austin, Texas while she worked for Motorola, then returning to reside in Pearland, Texas where her career ended at Titan Systems.

During her life’s journey, she had one daughter, Trina Nicole Moore, who she raised with her dear friend, Antoinette Dearborne. She enjoyed special times with close friends and family, mostly filled with games of Scrabble, Backgammon, Bid Whist and a heaping plate of BBQ brisket.

She departed this life on Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

She is survived by: one daughter, Trina Nicole Moore, one granddaughter, Kayla Michelle Moore, dear friend Antoinette Dearborne, brother Donarld Lewis Moore; a host of other relatives and friends.
