Virginia Whaley Cottrell made her debut on October 8th, 1926 in Los Angeles California from the union of Thomas Whaley and Lois Montgomery. She was an only child , not only of her mother but her father as well this fact made her a very special girl. Virginia matriculated through the Los Angeles Unified School District graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. She later attended a school of higher education and received her license to become a Vocational Nurse. Upon receipt of her license she became employed by the Los Angeles County General Hospital on the Pediatric Ward. Her life revolved around working with those babies, she truly loved her job. She retired after 40 years of service after leaving the ward and going into teaching vocational nursing. Virgina was fortunate enough to be part of five generations on her mothers side of the family when her daughter Sandra was born from the union with Arthur Roberts, the five generations began. Virginia later married Audrean W. Cottrell until his death in 1997. Virginia was having a few health problems and since she didn’t have any close family in Los Angeles her granddaughter Kimberly thought it would be best if she moved to Arizona so she could be closer to her family. Relocating in 2005 she became active in a social club called the “The Red Hats” and made some lovely friends in Arizona. Her hobbies were gardening and shopping which she called her self a “Shop-a-holic”. She love life and all who meet her loved her life.
Virginia leaves her two step daughters Danays Cottrell, Sandra A. Cottrell, One granddaughter Kimberly Jackson and her husband Rylane, Step grandson Keith Wyatt, Step granddaughter Dovenetta Sims, five great grandchildren Toyisha Fisher, Willie C. Fisher IV, Sandy Fisher, Nashia Sims, Myles Flannigan and her heart, her great great grandson Willie C. Fisher V. Son-in-law Donald Clayborn, Brother-in-law Clayton J. Cottrell from New York and two sister-in-law, Frances and Jayne Cottrell and a host of nieces and nephews in the Cottrell family and a multitude of friends whom loved her dearly.
