Phoebe Todd died early Monday, Oct. 3, at Presbyterian Manor in Wichita Falls. She was 86. The cause was pulmonary failure.
She was born Sept. 19, 1930, in the Clara community a few miles west of Burkburnett. Her parents, Rufus and Eliza Redman, moved the family to town when the well water turned salty. She lived the rest of her life in Burk. She was the last of the family’s children, two brothers having died earlier.
Phoebe was well known in town. She ran the public swimming pool and worked in the administrative office of Burkburnett High School. In later years she was a fixture at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was an active, Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary and belonged to Auxiliary 10455. Her husband, Chester, died in 1982.
Phoebe leaves behind a daughter, Kathy, and two sons, David and Rusty; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
