Nancy Miller Wilson
Place of birth: Westchester County, NY
Nancy (Miller) Wilson passed away peacefully on January 9, 2017 in Dover, New Hampshire at the age of 91.
Nancy and her twin sister, Nona, were born on January 19, 1925 to George and Lucille (Hyatt) Miller in Westchester County, NY. As a young girl, Nancy enjoyed school and playful summers on Sunset Lake, Vermont with her extended family.
In her twenties, Nancy worked on Wall Street for 5 years. She often talked about taking the train into Grand Central Station and the excitement of the city. It was on that train that she met a handsome young college student, Robert Ott Wilson, and their love story began.
Bob and Nancy Wilson were married on June 26, 1948 in a double wedding with Nancy’s twin sister and husband. Nancy and Bob raised three children, Robert Jr., Celia, and Hyatt. As a growing family they lived in several communities including Southport, Connecticut, Richboro, Pennsylvania, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, West Hurley, New York, and Annandale, New Jersey. In each place, Nancy found great friends and neighbors. She was active in garden clubs and volunteered at local hospitals. For fun, Nancy enjoyed antique collecting, sewing, and crafting. Nancy and Bob eventually retired to Queensbury, New York where they could enjoy frequent visits to their lakeside cabin in Vermont.
Nancy and Bob shared a love story lasting 69 years, though each would say that wasn’t long enough. Nancy’s legacy will be the unending love that she had for all of her family and the immense pride she held for her children’s accomplishments. Throughout her life, Nancy was extremely determined and never complained about any pain or hardship that she encountered. She found true joy hosting family celebrations and shopping for the perfect gift for each person that she knew. With her graceful spirit, she embraced each new day impeccably dressed and wearing her favorite pearls.
Nancy Wilson’s memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Robert Ott Wilson of Dover, New Hampshire, and three children, Robert Jr. (Linda) Wilson of Northborough, MA, Celia (Philip) Logsdon of Reading, MA, and Hyatt (Mary) Wilson of Dover, NH. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, David Sanchez-Wilson, Meredith (Ben) Yoder, Elizabeth (Steven) Logsdon Tropello, Mary (Kyle) Imes, Mark (Sarah) Logsdon, Jacquelyne Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Katie Wilson, Aren (Samantha) Wilson, and Ben (Starr) Wilson as well as 14 great-grandchildren who each adored her. She will also be remembered by the wonderful staff at Watson Fields nursing home where she was lovingly cared for in her final years.
A family memorial service for Nancy Wilson will be held in the spring at her favorite place on earth, Sunset Lake, Vermont.
