Thompsonville—Michael Ray Skurski, 60, of Thompsonville, passed on March 13, 2015 at his home after an extended illness which he fought courageously, embracing every day. He was surrounded by love and his immediate family at the time of his death. Mike was born December 15, 1954 in Frankfort to Ed and Betty Skurski.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Cindy who he was married to for 32 years; mother Betty Dunham, son Gerry (Janice), daughter Kasha, brother Dan, sisters Patricia (Timothy) Snyder, Amanda (Larry) Lugo, Debra, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Ed, step-father Jack Dunham and sister, Marsha.
Mike was a University of Michigan alumnus. He enjoyed camping, making homemade wine and renovating and repairing houses and apartments.
Mike worked at Sears in Traverse City for many years and also was a landlord/license builder. He served on the Colfax Township (Benzie County) board of trustees for several years.
A celebration of his life in his name will be planned for this summer.
