— Marilyn Kay Flaherty, 73, passed away Friday, November 4th, 2016 at Focus Nursing home in Cooperstown of a brief Illness. She joins her son Mark who passed away in 1997, and is survived by her sons Paul currently in Iraq, Dan in Las Vegas, Sean in E. Springfield and the Father of her children William, whom were married for 41 years. Her grandchildren are Andie and Ryan of Wisconsin, Alexander and Paul of Colorado, Ariana of New Zealand, her great grandchild Luke of Colorado, and many other close relatives and friends. Born in W. Frankfort Illinois on July 13, 1943, the daughter of Marion Pemberton and Mary Uslatz, they moved from Illinois to Upstate NY where she grew up and attend various middle and high schools. Her first and foremost job was as a Military spouse and mother who put family values ahead of all else. Early on she volunteered for the Red Cross while in the Philippines, worked as a manager at the Base Exchange at Plattsburgh AFB, and Later worked for Bassett Hospital Cooperstown, and was owner/operator of Sophie’s Antiques in Worcester, NY. Marilyn loved the military often talking about the opportunities provided her as a spouse, allowing her to see most of the United States as well the world. An avid decorator, she furnished her homes with antiques and items collected from around the world. She also enjoyed owning and showing cats and dogs of various pedigrees, even winning best of show.
