Joyce Thompson
Place of birth: Newark Ohio
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend peacefully passed away on June 20, 2020 in her sleep in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her final days were at Hospice of the Valley and the family was blessed to be able to spend time with her there. To the end she was spunky, honest and at peace with her family and the life she led. Joyce was born in Newark Ohio and moved to Phoenix in 1953 as her family relocated due to health issues of her sister. Marriages kept her moving around with Navy deployments, but she settled back in Phoenix to be close to her parents Harriet and Clarence. She was always known by others to be funny and honest, sometimes brutely so. She was always there for anyone that needed her and stayed friends with those she worked with for many years. In her youth she was into archery, dune bugging in the dunes and camping. Later in life her favorite times were ones in which she was staying at bed and breakfasts, antiquing, and visiting on the porch with her family. Her love of scrapbooking and genealogy gave her hours of enjoyment and made her the keeper of memories for the family. She is survived by her children, Cheryl, Sharon, Jared, and Ian. Her grandchildren, Leeann, Sydney, Megan, Gage, Baily, Gillian, Mason, and Bowen. Her Great-Grandchildren, Anabelle, Emma, and Isaac. She is smiling down on us with her parents Harriet & Clarence, her sister Suzette, and her brother Harold. She shared often that there were small ways that brought moments of happiness in unexpected ways that she loved. Happiness rocks randomly left where others could find was one. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest sharing in a manner in which you shared kindness on the memorial page or donate to Hospice of the Valley.
