Floyd Lawrence “Larry” Ives

Place of birth: Fort Riley, Kansas

Larry spent the majority of his childhood in Saudi Arabia, where his father worked for the Saudi Aramco Oil Company. He attended the San Marcos Military Academy, graduated from John Tyler High School, in Tyler, Texas, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.

Larry started his accounting career in 1968 as a civilian contractor stationed in Vietnam. After his service overseas, he was employed with numerous state agencies.

Larry was raising his young daughter Michelle when he met and married the love of his life, Debra Reumann, in 1980. Larry and Debra were married thirty-four years and had lots of fun raising their two sons Jonathan and Chris in Elgin, Texas. Larry enjoyed campouts with his boys as well as joining them at summer camp at Lost Pines Boy Scout Camp. He loved and appreciated the many hours of fishing with all three of his children. Special memories were made during the time spent with his family in Port Aransas, Texas.

In gratitude for his life are his devoted wife Debra; daughter Michelle Ives of Huntsville, Texas; son Jonathan Ives and daughter-in-law Lucy of Fort Worth, Texas; son Christopher Ives of Denton, Texas; grandson Forrest White of Huntsville, Texas; great-granddaughter Riley Robins of Bullard, Texas; brother Laurel Ives and nephews Ian and Elliot Ives of Austin, Texas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Dallas and Zella Ives of Tyler, Texas; and granddaughter Violet White.

At his request, no funeral services will be held. The family will meet privately to celebrate his life and spread his ashes at a later date.
