Betty Jean Hoover, 81, returned to her heavenly home on December 2, 2015. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Her life reflected her faith.
Betty was born to the late Ceasus Booth and Cora Ann DeMarsh, in Vine Grove, KY on May 9, 1934. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She grew up during the depression as an adolescent and taught both preschool and youth group to students as an adult. She worked various jobs from homemaker, daycare, store owner, and even a nursing facility for over 40 years.
Betty was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her husband, Walter B Hoover, on November 23, 1950 in Louisville, KY. Betty raised four of her children with patience, discipline and humility. She taught them to read, write and instilled in each of them a love for Jesus. Betty had a 5th son who died at birth on December 10th, 1971. She traveled with her husband throughout the US and overseas and often took them on family excursions to see the natural beauty of every state and country the US Air Force stationed them. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels, leading each of her children to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
Betty was full of heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.
Betty is survived by her children, Donna Lundvall, John Hoover and David Hoover; by six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter, her son Christopher, her daughter Debbe, her seven sisters, one brother and her parents.
Betty will be buried at the Old Bethel Cemetery in Crestview, Fl on Friday December 4th. Procession to leave Whitehurst Funeral Home at 3pm with a wake to follow at 107 Golf Course Dr.
