Funeral Notice Detail
Roger David Velo, passed away on September 19, 2016 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He died of a stroke, and was surrounded by family at the time of his death. He was 72 years old. Roger was born on September 26, 1943 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He was the second son, and one of six children born to Frank Velo and Evelyn Price Velo, who preceded him in death. Roger grew up in Chicago, but moved to Oak Lawn. He had many good friends in the area, and enjoyed watching the White Sox and the Bears on TV, with his pet cockatoo, Crackers. He is survived by his three daughters: Jill O’Neil, Nevada; Lisa Velo, Nevada; and Tina Cole,Texas, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Surviving siblings are Ronald Velo (Edda Velo); Pamela Velo, (Steven Richwine); Kathleen Velo; James Velo; and Judith Wika (Gerald Wika). A memorial service will be held at St. Gerald’s Catholic Church, 9310 S. 55th Court, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 at 10:00 a.m. on October 12, 2016. Friends and relatives of Roger’s are invited and encouraged to attend. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed.
