Michael T. Martinez

Place of birth: Garden City, KS

Religious affiliation: Christian

Michael Martinez  passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, in Denver, Colorado.  Although a less than average life span, Michael laughed inappropriately at every chance, learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix and loved who he wanted to love.

What Michael lacked in stature, he compensated with an over-abundance of charisma, charm and feistiness. He was known to fondly reminisce about good friends, good drinks and good times as a young man in Garden City, KS.  He will be most remembered by his larger-than-life persona, his loyalty to his family and friends, and his trademark stubbornness.

As a lifelong Denver Broncos Fan, he would often yell at the TV and threaten to call the team’s coaches to offer advice on how to run the team’s offense.  He also respectfully requested six Denver Bronco pallbearers, so the Broncos can let him down one last time.

Michael spent over three decades dedicated to his work with Comcast, we cannot tell you exactly what he did for Comcast, but we can tell you the connections he made to his work family helped shape him into the man he grew to be.  Comcast was his first “big boy” job and although he took on part-time jobs to help support his children, his attachments to his work family was his reason to continue to persevere. Not just for his children but for the teams he helped nurture and train throughout the years.

He wouldn’t want his friends and family to be sad that he is gone; instead, he would want you to be happy that he was here. Remember him in the stories you tell, the memories you hold dear and those dreaded fluttering June bugs.  Today, he is happy, he is free, and he is most likely dancing to New Kids on the Block or Brittney Spears.

Michael is survived by his children Saige Martinez of Emporia, KS., Curtistei Rodriguez of Dallas, TX., Mackenzie Martinez of Denver, CO., and Tazlyn Martinez of Gypsum, CO.
Including his sister Shelly Arteaga, his brothers Paul and Gene Martinez all of Garden City, KS., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael is proceeded in death by his mother and father Carmen R. Elizarraras and David P. Martinez; his sister’s, Sherry L. Martinez, Sandra S. Martinez and Janelle D. Cheek; and his brother’s, Darryl Martinez and Actor Martinez.
