Mary Ruth Carter of San Luis Obispo, CA passed away on July 21, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born Mary Ruth Johnston November 18, 1928 in Philadelphia, Missouri. She grew up in Maywood, MO with parents Hank Schroder (stepfather) and Nora (Gast Johnston) Schroder in Maywood, Missouri. She was a loving wife and mother. Some of her happiest times was working in the jewelry department at the Mervyn’s in Lancaster. Being a very shy and quiet person she was able to come out and connect with people. She loved to paint on china dishes and has left many beautiful pieces. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leslie Carter and daughter Dianna Carpenter. Mary is survived by her daughter Rose Wheeler (Steve), son Kim Carter and 5 grand children Thomas Wheeler, Nakia Wheeler, Lauren Carpenter, David Carpenter and Taylor Carter.
