Mary Marcella Fokken (Stormes)

Place of birth: Abernathy, TX

Mary Fokken aka “GIGI” earned her wings 9/20/2016, just a few weeks’ shy of her 75th birthday.  Mary was born October 7, 1941 in Abernathy, TX to Minnie Lou Mining and Henry Wylie Stormes. She was the Matriarch of her family, and the rock that held them all together. She will be truly missed.  Mary and husband, Marlowe Arthur Fokken lived and raised their children in Houston, Texas.  Mary was an entrepreneur for many years, owning an aerobics facility; before moving into the apartment management industry.  She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing cards.  She was an animal lover and especially enjoyed raising her monkeys.  She truly loved gambling at the casinos, but more than anything Mary loved her family.  A simple evening spent sharing laughs with her family; is one of her favorite past times.  Mary is preceded in death by her parents (Mother) Minnie Lou, (Father) Henry Wylie, (Step-Father) Truman B. Nix.  (Sister) Rosa Lee Stormes, and (brother) William Wylie Stormes. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory; her loving husband of 51 years Marlowe Fokken. (Sister) Edith Thompson of Dallas, (Sister) Ann Vaughan of Kermit, and baby brother Gene Stormes of Grandbury.  Children; Kimberly Stahlhut of Conroe (husband Anthony), Marcie Selby of Houston (Husband Jody), Susan McDonald-Kelley of Brenham (husband Freddy), and Brandon Fokken of Austin (Wife Erika). “GiGi” leaves 11 grandchildren; Michelle Divin, April Selby, Patricia Todar-Jackson, Melissa Bertram, Amanda Knox-Smith, Danielle Tooker, Steven McDonald Jr., Gregory McDoanld, Christian Fokken, Alley Fokken, and Marlowe Brandon Fokken.  22 greatgrandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
