Joan Rivers
Place of birth: Brooklyn New York
Joan Alexandra Molinsky, known to many by her stage name Joan Rivers, was many things to many people. She was an actress, comedian, writer, producer and television host, but she was best known for her stand up comedy and for for co-hosting the E! celebrity fashion show Fashion Police. She was 81 years old.
Joan was known for her biting wit and was one of America’s first successful female stand up comics. She was a role model and inspiration for countless tough-talking female comedians who came after her, from Roseanne Barr to Sarah Silverman.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa.
MISSING JOAN
I LOVED WATCHING JOAN RIVERS ON QVC!!!! NOBODY MADE ME LAUGH LIKE HER!!! AND I BOUGHT A TON OF HER BEAUTIFUL JEWELRY!!! SHE BRIGHTENED UP MY LIFE!!!! I KNOW HOW MUCH SHE LOVED MELISSA AND COOPER!!!! MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU!!!! SO MANY OF US LOVED JOAN!!!! AND NOW OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU!!! THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HER DEATH MAKE ME LIVID, AND I HOPE THAT YOU PURSUE EVERY AVENUE TO TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING TO ANYONE AGAIN!!!! SUE THEM!!!!!!!! YOU DESERVE WHATEVER YOU CAN GET!!!!!!!!! THEY DON"T NEED TO WORK IN HEALTHCARE AT ALL!!!!!!!!! ITS A TRAVESTY!!!!! HEALTH CARE FOR SURE!!!!!!!! IT SICKENS ME WHAT HAPPENED. WHEN JOAN DIED, I FELT LIKE I LOST A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY!!!!!!!! I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT MORE OF HER JEWELRY, MORE OF HER BOOKS, PHOTOS OF HER AND MELISSA....IT JUST MADE ME FEEL CLOSER TO HER SOMEHOW. I AM STILL GRIEVING FOR HER!!!! I MISS HER!!!! THE SAD THING IS THAT I WAS WATCHING HER THE NIGHT BEFORE ON A RE-RUN OF THE SETH MYERS SHOW, AND SHE WAS SO DELIGHTFUL and SO FUNNY!!!! SHE NEVER MISSED A BEAT!!!!!!!!! JOAN WAS SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US WHO ARE GROWING OLDER!!!!!!!!!! SHE WAS SO UPBEAT, FUNNY, and SHE WORKED SO HARD, and LOVED SO MUCH!!!!!!!! I KNOW IT MAY SOUND STRANGE, BUT I THOUGHT SHE WAS JUST ONE PERSON WHO WAS NEVER GOING TO DIE!!! SHE STILL HAD SUCH ENERGY!!! SHE WAS SO AWESOME AND SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!! AND SHE ONLY DIED, BECAUSE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO KILLED HER!!!!!!!!! LIKE I SAID, I AM LIVID!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE MELISSA AND HER LAWYER MAKE THEM PAY!!!!!!!!!! BUT, OF COURSE, THERE IS NO WAY TO EVER GET ENOUGH MONEY FOR TAKING HER MOTHER AWAY FROM HER, AND COOPER and ALL OF US!!!!!!!!!!!! IT's SO HEART BREAKING!!!!!!!!! BUT, MOST OF ALL, I JUST WANTED TO LET MELISSA KNOW HOW MUCH WE ALL LOVED HER, and THAT WE ARE KEEPING HER AND COOPER IN OUR PRAYERS!!!! ON THAT SHOW I WATCHED THE NIGHT BEFORE SHE HAD HER PROCEDURE, SHE WAS TELLING ABOUT HOW SHE TOOK HER GRANDSON COOPER ON A VACATION EVERY YEAR, and THIS YEAR THAT SHE HAD TAKEN HIM TO EUROPE, AND HOW MUCH SHE LOVED BEING WITH COOPER!!!!! HER EYES JUST LIT UP WHEN SHE TALKED ABOUT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU, JOAN and WE ALWAYS WILL!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH MUCH LOVE, Debora Butler
Missing someone I didn't really know
Melissa and Cooper I saw your Mother and Grandmother perform at Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque Iowa. She came out to the casino because she was giving jewelry away and I had my "lady bug" watch, bracelet, and earrings on for LUCK of course. I pointed to my wrist as she was leaving the stage but I don't think she saw I had them on. I watched her on QVC and I watched your T.V. show. I rented her movie when it ccame out. I watched Fashion Police. When I heard she was sick my heart became HEAVY. And when she died I felt so bad. I'm glad you kept her on QVC. I watched the show but David cannot replace her wit or her smile. I don't have a Mom and. DAD any more, so I know how much it hurts. Vickie Jones a fan.
Our Joan who always Brightened up my Days....
She was stunningly Beautiful and it was inside and out, as I felt like she reminded me of my Mother...her grace as she laughed at herself but she was just so darn down to earth. We all loved her in my family and there will be such a void now in my heart. It was such a loss for her family and we all in my family Thank YOU for sharing your Mother with us for a life time of smiles....She will be so missed Our Joan!
Thank you Joan for all you were to us
My condolences to Melissa and Cooper, David Dangle and all who loved her. She will be sorely missed.
Thank you for all these postings
I, too, feel fury / grief / fury / grief - oh, this will never end. I first saw Joan's act when no one knew who she was. Laughed so hard, I almost broke something. But ultimately, it wasn't the funny Joan who lived in my heart. It was the woman - the mentor - the "mom." I didn't even know her, but somehow she became all these things to me. And I didn't even know she was that important to me. Until she was gone. I deeply grieve and feel horribly sorry for everyone left behind because, really, this world is not as good now.
