James Perry

Place of birth: Bristol, TN

James Ray Perry also know as Jimmy and J.R. Born in Bristol, TN on June 20, 1944. Passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 70 years of age. Graduate of Gray High School in 1965. United States Air Force 1965-1969.

Loving dad to Chris Perry and wife Jennifer Perry, and daughter Monica Perry. Pawpaw to Abigail & Marissa Perry and Tyson & Madison Hinkle. Survived by his twin sister Kay Faust and little sister Shelby Steelman, along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, the family is huge! Predeceased by his father Emmett Ray Perry and mother Bonnie Patterson, big brother Eddie Perry and his older sister Carolyn Barker. Jimmy was loved by so many!

The biggest Cowboy’s fan EVER! Lover of dogs, especially his sweet Goldie Perry. He loved everyone and everything he held dear in a very deep way. Jimmy was a Christmas FANATIC and loved over decorating, and buying WAY too many presents!! Loved by all who knew him… he was a notorious jokester and always ready to make you laugh!

When Jim returned from his military service in Vietnam, he married Mary Lopez in San Antonio, TX. When they moved to his home in Winston Salem NC he tried selling shoes… this WAS NOT exciting enough for him so he ventured into the crazy world of Life Insurance Sales. Here he excelled rapidly while earning his LUTCF (Life Underwriting Training Counsel Fellow) a 2 year undertaking. He went on to win many awards including being a member of the Million Dollar Round Table for many years. Upon leaving Life of Virginia, he went on with friends Teresa Snider, Frank Naples, and others to Nationwide Property and Casualty Insurance, where he was one of few Business Agents handling corporate Accounts.

Jim was a loving father. He spent years coaching baseball at South West Little League, and chaperoning field trips for his children’s schools. As his children grew, he passed to them many life lessons that molded them into the people they are today!

Jim will be missed by many, loved forever by all who knew him, and held happily in the Lords embrace until we meet him once more.
