James A. O’Connor Jr., 82 died October 4, 2015 at 12:35 p.m. at Abington Memorial Hospital, Montgomery County Pennsylvania. Served in the Army/Air Force from 1950-1953 then reenlisted into the United States Air Force in 1953 until he retired from military service in 1971. He met and married Iolanda Ciabo (Yolanda) in Naples, Italy on May 22, 1958 while stationed there. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. From 1971 until 1996, he worked as a Letter Carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. He retired from the USPS after 25 years of faithful service. Lived in Philadelphia for much of his childhood and settled with his family in the Parkwood section of Northeast Philadelphia until 1980. In 1980 he resettled his family to Newtown, Bucks County, PA. He recently moved with the Hydock family to Abington Township, Mongomery County PA. James “Jim” was a great dad and a wonderful Pop-Pop to all. He was always open, and friendly. He prided himself as the one that you can always count on, no matter what you needed. He had a soft heart and a ready smile. Happy, go lucky spirit that you could get lost in. His advice was second to none and you received it regardless but with tenderness. He deeply appreciated life but refused to live only for himself and selflessly gave all he could to others. He will be sorely missed.
