Freida Grace Harmon
Place of birth: Branch, LA
Freida Grace Harmon was born to Geddy and Rejoicie Wilridge Harmon on November 13, 1938 in Branch, Louisiana. At an early age, she united with Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Branch, where she was baptized by the late Rev. C. R. Steward.
She was known to many as Ms. Freida or Fred. She was educated at Ross High and eventually attended Acadia Parish Training School as well. She worked for years in the food service industry as a cook at Stark’s Restaurant and Dairy Queen in Rayne, Louisiana. Years later, she also worked at the Rayne Guest Home in laundry services. She even volunteered at the Christian Service Center in Rayne in her spare time.
Freida will be remembered for her unique personality, her wit, her love for her family, and her willingness to help anyone in need. Two of her favorite pastimes were reading mystery novels, dancing, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Ms. Freida leaves to mourn her only child — Aaron Harmon (Gertrude) of Rayne; two sisters — Shirley and JoAnna Harmon, both of Rayne; three grandchildren — Alzora Martin Comeaux of Copperas Cove, TX, Enola Marie Martin (Jamison) and Joyce Marie Harmon, both of Crowley. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren: Brittsosha Martin, Shaira Martin, Ronald Ross III, Elyjah Ross, Ronte Ross, JaVonta Flugence, Ophelia Flugence, Kristopher Martin, Keilan Martin, Nykeeria Harrmon, Symir Harmon, and Carleigh Boudreaux.
Worthy of note is her dear friend Ethel Eaglin who visited and helped to care for her each day as well as in her final days. She was thankful for this treasured friendship.
She was preceded in death by her parents–Geddy and Rejoicie Harmon; two sisters — Alberta Gant Harmon and Rosa Lee Harmon-Romero; two brothers — Jack Harmon and Joseph Harmon; as well as a host of great-great grandkids, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
