Daniel Spencer, 91, Ogema, died at 12:46 p.m.., September 22, 2016 in his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. Daniel “Big D.P.” Spencer was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Ogema, Sask. and was a lifelong area resident. He worked as a combine operator, was a volunteer fireman and first responder for the Ogema Fire Department and was a member of the local NAACP. He is survived by his wife, Rose Spencer and although they have no children of their own they have a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Shirley Lawson, Kenneth Lundblad and R.J. Humphrey. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday September 30th, at the McCall Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Gary Colt will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Ethridge, Christopher Edwards, Levi Lawson, Matt Weems, Matt Susky and Charlie Clovin. Friends may call at the McCall Funeral Home, Ogema from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral Notice Detail

As a young man Dan always looked up to his father, Guermo, who was a veteran world war I. At the age of 16 Dan joined the navy and spent several years touring. After the war Dan met Rose Davis at a church function and they hit it off right away. Dan and Rose were married on July 17, 1950 and have lived at the same address for over 45 years.
