Connie Cooley

Place of birth: Pawtucket, Rhode Island

Constance Cooley passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2015 at Hospice of the Valley Care Center in Glendale, Arizona from complications related to her ongoing fight with cancer. She is survived by her children Cal Cooley and Debra Carver and her grandchildren Blake, Drew and Nick Carver.

Constance (Connie) was born along with her twin sister Carol on July 27th 1936, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to William Pilling and Vera Pilling (Jagger) and was still a young girl when the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

She attended Arizona State University where she met and married Calvin C. Cooley in July of 1956. She graduated with honors from ASU and she and Cal began raising their family in Scottsdale, Arizona until Cals work as a pilot for United Airlines took them to Denver, New York and eventually to Fountain Valley, California, where they had many happy years until Cals retirement in 1994. They then moved back to Scottsdale where they lived until Cal’s death in 1996. Connie then moved to Irvine, California and eventually settled in Sun City, Arizona where she remained until her passing.

Connie was an intelligent and caring woman with a deep well of generosity. She enjoyed helping others and often donated to help those in need whether they were orphaned pets or underprivileged children. She devoted herself to her family throughout her life and always put their needs before her own.

Connie wanted to be remembered as she was in life and therefore requested that no funeral or memorial service of any kind be held for her. To try and reconcile her wishes with the desire of those that loved her to be able to have a chance to say goodbye, a remembrance event will be planned sometime in the future. If anyone outside of the immediate family would like to attend, they can contact either of her children to receive notification when plans are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to: Hospice of the Valley, Glendale, AZ. in her name.

Connie was a complex woman and her passing leaves those of us that cared for her with a wide range of memories and emotions. Therefore, her family encourages everyone to take the best of those memories and emotions and pass them on to those in their life through words and actions, so that in some small way, the best of her will live on through you.
