Carl Sidney Watts

Place of birth: None

Carl Sidney Watts, better known as “Budgie” to family, was born on August 15, 1944 to Evelyn D. Watts and passed away on August 18, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer. Carl was pre-deceased by his mother Evelyn D. Watts, and sisters Leonora Richardson, Cheryl Watts, and sister-in-law Ella Watts. Carl is survived by brothers and sisters: Irma Alexander (Ronald); Dorothy Watts (Carl); Phillip Watts; Floyd Watts (Merita); Stanley Watts (Sandy); Theodore Watts; Kevin Watts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his companion of 23 years Dorothy Robinson, along with her children Anthony and Charmaine Robinson, grandchildren Aigner and Ahmad Robinson, and Dorothy’s mother, Leola Stone. Carl grew up in Pleasantville and attended its schools. Carl was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1965-1972, and receiving many medals and commendations. Carl worked as a paratransit driver for Easton Coach, where he received many awards for professionalism and courtesy. Carl loved his career and didn’t refer to it as “work” because he enjoyed it so much. Everyone who knew him knew that he was passionate about his family, golf, his iPad, classic soul music and his many car toys and gadgets. Carl had a quick wit and always made those around him laugh. He was the mighty oak tree of the Watts family, never missing a family gathering or birthday; always being there for those who needed him; and always being a straight shooter. He lived a full life on his own terms. The Watts Family takes comfort in knowing that “Budgie” enjoyed his life on this earth.   (Arrangements are tentative). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the All Wars Memorial Building, 1510 Adriatic Avenue, Atlantic City followed by burial at the Atlantic County Veteran’s Cemetery in Estell Manor.
