Funeral services for Billy Richards, 74 of Rockdale are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 in the Rising Star Baptist Church in Rockdale. Burial in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2014 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Billy Richards was born May 27, 1942 in Rockdale to Rufus Jack and Elma (McDonald) Richards. He was a 1960 graduate of Aycock High School in Rockdale and member of New Hope Baptist Church in Rockdale. He worked as an assistant liberman operator with Texas Utilities in Rockdale.

Billy passed away Saturday morning, September 3, 2014 at his home in Rockdale. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Uris Richards; a brother, Earnest Richards and a grandson, Billy Demohn Richards. Surviving are his first wife, Jeraldine Young and their children, Marilyn Richards, and Haywood Richards and wife Samantha; second wife, Erma Gene Richards and their children, Ruby Smith Brown, Billie Faye Hardway-Monroe and husband Fred, Lanna Richards, Elma Richards, William E. Richards and wife Lorene, John Richards and wife Jashonda, and Karla Richards-Alexis and husband Tony; as well as two children Evelyn Anderson and Carlos Anderson; siblings, Rufus Ned Richards, Carrie Douglas, Yvonne Williams and husband Nathaniel, Dorothie Barnett, and Sylvia Morrison; 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are, Haywood Richards, Carlos Anderson, William E. Richards, John Richards, Kennedy Hardway, Kenneth Hardway, Stanley Douglas, Ellis Douglas and Hubert Brown.
