Son of Roger and Gaye Mattox of Shepherdstown ,WV Arthur was the baby boy in the family of 12. He enjoyed farming with his father and also hunting with his older brother Roger. Although his childhood was filled with countless siblings, Arthur made sure that his family was taken care of to the best of his ability. He worked many summers at Mr.Willows corner store to help with the bills around the family’s home. Arthur was a proud Vietnam veteran who believed his purpose in life was to bring joy to anyone that was willing to accept it. Shortly after marrying his hometown crush Nettie Belle at 17 he packed her up and moved to Jackson Michigan. Six years later they welcomed their first of seven kids, four boys three girls. Johanna, Melianie, Robert Lee, Arthur Jr, Donna Faye, Larry & Charles Shannon. He also cared for two golden retrievers that he adopted from the local shelter, Maximus & Bear.
Funeral Notice Detail
On the evening of November 17, 2016, Arthur passed away peacefully of natural causes. He was guarded by angels and comforted by family members at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice in Jackson, MI at the time of his passing, Arthur was 92 years old. He is proceeded into death by his wife Nettie Belle, daughter Johanna Mattox and brother Roger Mattox jr. Arthur is survived by daughters Melianie and Donna Mattox and sons, Robert Lee, Arthur Jr, Larry & Charles Shannon.
