Born August 11, 1937 in Canton, Mississippi, Alfred (Al) was the youngest of twelve children born to John Frank O’Leary and Clementine Conway. He served in the U.S. Air Force in North Africa in the 1950’s. After leaving the service, Al settled in Los Angeles and began working in construction as a union carpenter. He was a foreman on the LAX renovations ahead of the 1984 Olympics, as well as many other high profile construction projects in and around Los Angeles. Al is predeceased by his lovely wife Dolores Yvonne O’Leary, siblings John Frank O’Leary, Jr., Selina O’Leary-Jones, Patrick Henry O’Leary, Lawrence (Smitty) O’Leary, Arneda O’Leary, Annie Mae O’Leary-Lavine, James Kermit O’Leary, and Elridge (Tommy) O’Leary. Al lovingly leaves behind two daughters: Letitia Bogar and her husband Clarence, their two daughters Lauren Bogar and Taylor Bogar, and two great grandchildren, Shep Edwards V, and Riley Edwards; Esther O’Leary Winter and her husband John Winter and their four children, John Alfred Winter, Madeleine Winter, Harrison Winter, and Julia Winter. Al also leaves behind three brothers, Father Malcolm O’Leary (Mississippi), James T. O’Leary (Alabama), Bernard O’Leary (California) as well a host of other family and friends.
