Thomas Baptiste was born in Port Au Prince Haiti, but came to the United States in 1988. Thomas wanted a better life for his wife and children so he decided to move to Stamford, Connecticut to start a new beautiful life for his children. In the year 1992 he decided to open up a small convenience store in the downtown area of Norwalk.  After being unsuccessful his first year of business, Thomas didn’t give up, he knew what was at stake. After the first year the store came to become a staple of the downtown Norwalk area, having regulars, and newcomers alike. The store was called Autre Chose (Something Different In french), where he sold Haitian Cuisine, and American Cuisine. It was opened from 1992-2010. After the store closed Thomas became a resident of Bridgeport, and decided to retire in the year 2013, where he enjoyed a great life with his daughters, and sons, and was known in Bridgeport as Uncle War bucks, for his generosity to his community, and the amount of people he helped after the earthquake that hit Haiti. He will be sadly missed by his  2 daughters and 2 sons. He his left behind by 16 grandchildren.

Thomas sadly left this earth unexpectedly by a untimely heart attack on September 19th at 9:00 am. He was found in his house by his youngest daughter.
