Rose Berntsen
Place of birth: Pensacola, FL
Rose Denise Berntsen, 52, passed away Sunday November 8, 2015 at her Pikesville, MD residence as a result of a stroke. Rose had made a full recovery from a previous stroke she suffered in 2011.
She leaves behind her mother, Lorraine Berntsen; her brother, Robert Schmalz; her sister Wendy Bishop; four nieces; a nephew; and three great-nephews.
Rose was born in Pensacola, FL but grew up in Pennsylvania and lived the last years of her life in Maryland. After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Rose enjoyed a 30 year career in music therapy assisting children, the elderly, hospice patients, and psychiatric patients. In 2014 she completed a Master’s degree in Counseling and assisted at the Baltimore Crisis Center. Rose devoted herself to helping others, both in her professional life and in her personal life. The positive outlook, exuberance, and compassion that Rose exuded every day will be sorely missed.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held in 2016. To receive information on the time and location, please email Heidi Bishop at Heidileeb5@gmail.com.
