Larry Lee Phillips
Place of birth: Southbridge, MA
Larry Lee Phillips, 64, of Worcester, died peacefully at home Tuesday, October 27, 2015, with family by his side after a short battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Francine (Troiano) Phillips, his children, James Phillips and his wife Cheryl of Auburn; Shana Phillips and her husband Scott of Worcester; Linda Glazebrook and her husband Neil of Worcester; and Benjamin Phillips of Edgewater, FL, his grandchildren, Taylor, Jessica, Jacob and Jimmy.
He was predeceased by his older sister, Linda, and also leaves two sisters, Kandice (Koziol) Pelchat of Millbury; Laurie (Fontaine) Rivera and her husband, Nestor, of Grafton; and three brothers, Kenneth Koziol of Worcester; Keith Koziol and his wife Cathy, of Davis Junction, Illinois; and Mark Fontaine and his wife Lynn, of Ashford, CT.
He was born in Southbridge, MA, to the late Mary Fontaine, and adopted by the late Sydney and Minnie (Dumphy) Phillips, and has lived in Worcester for many years. Recently he was both united and reunited with his siblings, though he lost his youngest sister, Tammy Fontaine of Worcester, shortly afterward.
Larry worked as an auto-body mechanic but was nudged into early retirement by medical concerns. He was artistic and enjoyed working with his hands, including creating full-size, strikingly lifelike action heroes, villains and monsters, some even as costumes for customers around the world. He loved to fish with his two sons and he enjoyed flea markets, auctions, yard sales and his home in Florida. He will be missed by many.
There will be a memorial gathering on Thursday November 5, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in HENRY-DIRSA Funeral Home, 33 Ward Street, Worcester, MA.
Additionally, Larry’s brothers and sisters will be at Chuck’s Steakhouse Restaurant at 10 Prospect St, Route 20, Auburn, MA 01501, for a dinner in his honor, from 5-7pm or until we’re ready to go home. All are welcome!
