Place of birth: None
Daniel passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Chula Vista, CA at the age of 70. Born in Tijuana, Mexico of humble beginnings, Daniel was the eldest of 7 children. He was determined and hardworking from a young age, eventually earning a double major in architecture and engineering from the ESIA School of Architecture and Engineering Polytechnic University of Mexico. He was often called ‘Arquitecto Dayco’, after his hardware & lumber store, which he opened to supply his construction projects and, later, his constructions companies.
Daniel gave back to the community, most notably serving as an assembly member for the state of Baja California and using his personal resources to benefit less fortunate areas in Tijuana.
In his spare time, Daniel enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his fishpond and garden, watching Westerns, cheering the Padres and driving fast cars.
Daniel suffered Parkinson’s Disease and was later diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last June, which ultimately took his life. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Hortensia, his four children, 11 grandchildren and 6 siblings.
Memorial Triduum mass will begin Saturday, May 2, 2015 at noon the San Francisco Church on 3rd Street in Tijuana.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Daniel’s memory to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (www.pdf.org).
