Barton Olmsted

Bart was raised in Freeman, WA and graduated from Freeman High School in 1971.  From there he studied Geology at Eastern Washington University and some of his greatest memories were traveling through Europe after graduation.  Bart is survived by his three children Shauna Olmsted, Candace Eddings, and Peter Olmsted; as well as sisters Wilene Goodman and Shirl Stowe; along with 3 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren, and his loving partner of 22 years Mary Ann Powers.  Bart had a deep passion for music, skiing, talk radio, and Social Justice.  He often was seen holding the ski pole over his children while riding up the chairlift and enjoyed stopping at the Dishman Mica candy shop after Saturday dump runs.  He prided himself on his perfectionist tendencies and would often be caught “tinkering” in papa’s shop downstairs late into the evening.  He will be remembered fondly anytime his family hears the Beatles, the Who, or Elton John come on the radio.  Bart will be dearly missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time for close family and friends.
