Holly the rat, and her sister Zipper, were bred as snake food but a close friend of mine saved them and brought them into my pre-vet program in 6th grade. I immediately formed a bond with Holly, knowing she was what we call a heart rat. I loved her to death, I guess quite literally. She came home for that summer, and the day she came home, my sister noticed that she had broken teeth. After long enough, we found she had a severe malocclusion and we had to trim her teeth regularly. The girls came home with me last December, and they’ve been living out a happy retirement since. Her teeth started rotting about a week ago, and my sister and I ultimately made the decision to put her down. I’m not sure what to do without her. Her sister is being put down as well due to severe hind leg degeneration. Looking for prayers for my baby girls.
