Thomas (Tommy ) Donnelly was born near Shelby ,North Carolina in 1927 on the eve of the Great Depression. He went to work at the age of 14 as a mechanic’s apprentice and he joined the merchant marines in 1944. Tommy was married twice and had one child who preceded him into death. He spent most of his life as a marine mechanic and worked throughout the South for many years before settling in Arden. He was a friendly man but kept his own company. He was generous and always helped out those less fortunate. He had few friends but they were close friends. He will be sorely missedThomas Donnelly died of natural causes after a long and vigorous life. He was preceded in to death by his son, Larry Kirkman Bunton . He is survived by his grandchildren Alison Bunton Williams of Cary,North Carolina and Terence Taylor Bunton of Washington D.C. he is also survived by his great-grandchildren Kathryn Taylor Temple and Julian Shively Williams. The family wishes a private funeral..
