Lawrence White

Place of birth: Rhinelander, WI

Religious affiliation: Protestant

Mr. Lawrence (Larry) William White died peacefully in Bayfront Health in Punta Gorda, Florida at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Jeanette (Jan); children: Jeff (and Jenny) White, Cheryl (and Martin) Carmody, Cindy (and Rob) Edwards and Melissa (and Patrick) Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Brennan, Madison and Hayden White; Annanda, Emelia, Martin and Ryan Carmody; Tyler, Jaime and Allison Edwards; Zachary and Ashlyn Fitzgerald; and his siblings: Margie Cox, Janet Holquist, Carrie Marks and Denny White. He is preceded in death by his father Clifford and mother Stella White.

Larry was born on April 17, 1938 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He was a Naval ROTC Mid-Shipman and earned a business degree from the University of Wisconsin. On August 13, 1960, he graduated college and married his sweetheart, Jan (nee Gluth) on the same day. They started their life together in California where he served as an officer in the US Navy for four years, traveling throughout the Pacific Ocean.

Over the next several years, the couple welcomed four children to their lives and lived primarily in Madison, Wisconsin until 1978 when they settled in Montgomery, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati. In 2006, the couple semi-retired, moving to Rotonda West, near Englewood, Florida.

Larry loved the waterways and he and the family spent free time on their boat on the Ohio River, various lakes or in Charlotte Harbor off the Gulf of Mexico where they enjoyed vacations on Don Pedro Island, Florida.

His children remember him as a patient, kind and driven father who provided all he could to his family while encouraging them to pursue their goals. Larry loved his work as a Medical Gas Systems Equipment Distributor in which he worked with hospitals across his territory to ensure quality equipment was installed to help patients get the assistance they need for oxygen and other vital gases. Larry worked for Ohio Medical and Medaes before launching his own firm, LW White & Associates, where he transferred the business to his daughter and the business continues today.

A memorial service is planned for family and friends on Saturday, June 13, 2015, where his ashes will be laid to rest in the waters near the Don Pedro Island area, as he wished.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations that will help preserve the waterways of Florida via The Conservancy of Southwest Florida. https://www.conservancy.org/donate

The family would like to thank caregivers of the Bayfront Punta Gorda health center for their assistance in caring for Larry.
