Lamar “L.A.” Albert Cox, age 65, of Locust Grove, GA passed away January 21, 2016. He was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in East Point to the late Lewis A. Cox and Dixie Yancy Cox. He is survived by his daughter Amber L. Cox and son Lamar Adam Cox, grandsons Jamison and Jaiden Nieto, sisters and their husbands Jeanette Knight and Jimmy of San Antonio, TX, Virginia Norred and Herman of Ormond Beach, FL, Joyce Hawkins and Tommy of Gardendale, AL, nieces Julie and Sherry, and nephews Jeff, Stephen, Tim and Tom. Lamar graduated from Russell High School in 1968. He was enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from October 1968 to March 1972. He was employed by Georgia Power as a mechanic for many years. Lamar enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and especially racing cars on dirt tracks, as well as Legends and Bandoleros at Atlanta Motor Speedway. A memorial service will be at a later date.
